Return to Egypt: Pages of the History of Russian Egyptology

Russia is one of the countries, where Egyptology has been being very popular from 1822, when F. Champollion deciphered hieroglyphs. Unfortunately, for a long time Russian scholars were unable to go in Egypt to study its history and culture. This fact had a big influence on development of the Russian science. But later the situation changed, and from 1995 employees of the Russian Academy of Sciences have been taking part in international archaeological expeditions and conducting unassisted investigations in different regions of Egypt: in Alexandria, Tell Ibrahim Awad, Giza, Memphis, Fayoum and Luxor. As a result sources that allow scholars to revise many pages of Ancient Egyptian history were discovered and put into scientific circulation.

The volume, written in Russian and English, includes overview of history and recent developments of the Russian Egyptology.
